Ch. 1 of Whispers in the Wind

Abandoned.

She had been abandoned by the one who had claimed to love her. The one who had sworn that he would always be there...

Usagi remembered it all so clearly...

~FLASHBACK~

The day had dawned warm and clear skied. All was right in her world. Usagi and Mamoru would be married in a years time. They had been living together for quite awhile and as couples who did they had become intimate. For the past few weeks she had been in training, but there wasn't one day she didn't think of her true love...

Yesterday she had found out that she was expecting her first child and so her training ended abruptly. She was excited about telling Mamo-chan.

She dialed his number and waited as the phone rang. Suddenly there was a voice on the other end of the line, and it wasn't Mamo-chan's. It was most definetely feminine. At first she was so shocked that she couldn't answer back to the "Hello?" coming from the other end of the line.

"Um, yes is Mamoru in?" She had inquired... "Mamo-chan, there is somebody on the line for you sweetheart..." Mamo-chan!! That was Usagi's name for Mamoru. They had given each other pet names so long ago in his apartment. And what was with this sweetheart business...

A kiss sounded from the other end of the line as it was being handed to the other speaker..."Hello?" Mamo-chan's voice came out of the reciever.

"Nevermind" Usagi said before she burst out into tears on the spot. She could have sworn she heard Mamo-chan yell out her name before she hung up the reciever. Then she sat as silent tears ran down her cheeks. Her blue eyes no longer sparkled, but instead they looked devoid of all emotion. She felt numb, she supposed she was just in shock.

~End FLASHBACK~

That had been yesterday. Now the shock had most definetely worn off. Her chest was constricting in pain and she felt like she couldn't breath. She just laid in her bed and cried.

She had dreamed about Mamo-chan last night. About the way he had always been. About thier time together. Then she had awakened to the harsh light of day and all the memories had returned. That's when the tears had started in earnest. And now they didn't seem to want to stop.

Around 2:00 p.m. she had heard someone knocking on the door of the apartment she had rented while she was in training but she guessed that they had finally gotten tired of knocking and gave up. She just didn't feel like talking to anybody. The same went for answering the phone. She just didn't care. Nothing could cut through her pain. She had been about to tell Mamo-chan about the birth of thier child while he had probably been about to tell he had found someone else.

Now what was she to do. She was 20 and well on her way to becoming a successful doctor..(That was Mamo-chan's fault...being around him had influenced her). She supposed she could take her trip to America sooner than planned, and without Mamoru. They had planned to go to study over there together, but that plan had obviously fallen through...

(That is only the begining...a prologue if you will...)
